Complex Transitions

When it comes to moving from one scene to another, many film makers use different and interesting transitions to achieve many things. For example, some transitions can be used to change the tone of one scene to the next, say a serious scene to a scene at a party (This is a really common one I know of). Or they can be used so that the transition is not so sudden and instead moves smoothly for the audience. As the article says, transitions are an art form that can be done in a multitude of ways and can depend on the person, some are slow and peaceful, others are fast a chaotic, depending on the mood.
